I am tired of comparisons: Shah Rukh Khan: Shah Rukh Khan does not like being compared with either Bollywood legends or B-town rookies
SUPERHERO'S BUMPY RIDE "Five years ago, when we thought of Ra.One, there were genuine apprehensions about the huge expenses and many felt it would be difficult to recover the costs. But everyone was very supportive and I am glad that we went ahead with it. And let me clarify that the poster of the film hasn't been copied from anywhere."
PROMOTIONAL SPREE "Today, with so many platforms being available, it's important to promote a movie ahead of its release. Earlier, films would be released elsewhere the week after it was released in Mumbai. But today, it's about maximizing the profits in the first weekend and the era of films completing silver jubilees and golden jubilees is over. I will never shy away from promotional activities because I believe in letting my audience know what to expect from my films. Besides, promotions also draw a certain percentage of non-regular movie-goers to theatres."
NO COMPARISONS, PLEASE "I am sick and tired of being compared all the time! Just like it's not fair to compare me to a legend like Amitabh Bachchan, however flattering it may be, it's equally unfair to compare me to every second newcomer. Without sounding rude, I just want to say that in the last 20 years, I have done enough quality work to carve out my own identity."
ME, THE WORKAHOLIC "I've been so busy for the past one month that I have been sleeping at around 11 every morning after working non-stop in the night. Shooting for Don 2 has been physically exhausting. However, as an entertainer, all these things seem like a cakewalk when a film of yours does well. And once a film of mine is completed, my wife is among the first to watch it and give me her feedback."
MY KIDS, MY WORLD "I'm blessed to have such lovely children. I'll be happy if they study well and are happy in whatever they choose to do. Fame and money are secondary."

I wish i could sing: SRK:

Shah Rukh dresses up for sleep:
Believe it or not, most of us would be dressing up to go out but for Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan dressing up is a must for bed.
In an exclusive interview to Mala Sekhri of Harper's Bazaar, he said he likes to wear clean clothes before turning in for the night. The actor, who has also caught the least possible shuteye with his production Ra.One close to release, says he likes to lavish cologne on himself before sleeping. Excerpts from the interview:
So what do you wear when you travel, when you're on a plane, on a long flight?
I wear jeans, my pair of jeans, my T-shirt, my shoes. I wear a jacket, I love jackets. I'm from Delhi so I still love jackets…The only clothes that I buy are jackets but I can't wear them in Mumbai because it's always so warm. So I wear a nice big jacket with a hood and stuff, I feel very cool wearing a hooded jacket. So when I land in London, I wear it on my head so I feel like a rap singer.
So confess, what do you wear to bed?
I'm really very spoilt, I like to dress up for bed. I like to wear clean, really nice pair of clothes, so, like my Dolce and Gabbana shorts, I will sometime or I will wear my Lulu lemon track pants and I'll wear a nice, crisp white T-shirt. Actually when I dress up for bed, I don't wear slippers, As soon as I wake up, I wear shoes. The first thing I do after a bath is I wear socks and shoes and the jeans. I quickly wear them and I take them off the last thing. So I never roam around barefoot and that's why I have athletes foot also I think. I never take my shoes off the whole day, just when I get into bed. But when I dress up at night, I wear cologne, very nice colognes, and everyone feels I am dressing up and going somewhere.
So you clearly have a view on clothes. Does Gauri (his wife) have a view on what you wear?
No, nobody has a view on what I wear because my clothes look the same so nobody tells me anything. Sometimes Karan, my friend, when he is doing a film and all, then he tells me, sometimes the girls who work with me, they will say Mr Khan that looks nice, but my clothes all look the same so I really don't have a view. Nobody has a view, if I ask if this is ok? They will say, "It's the same!! It's exactly the same what you wear, so why do you keep asking me?"
So what's your favourite accessory?
I don't know if I can call it an accessory, but it's my nasal drops that I carry. That's all and in terms of jewellery, I don't wear any. I have a nice taaveez. That's the only thing my wife gives me when I am walking out of the room. I've got this case of watches. So he (my helper) takes it out and he lays a bet because I pick up the same watch. He was joking with someone the other day, "Dekhna mein sahib se shart lagaunga ki woh wohi ghadi utthayenge (I'll have a bet with my boss that he will pick the same watch)." So I've got a kit of watches that he shows me when I am getting into my lift or into the car and I invariably pick up the same one as here. That's the one I always pick up. My Tag (Heuer) watch.
Looks like Shahrukh Khan has lost interest for his IPL team KKR. SRK is busy promoting Ra.One at a live event for Zee TV's popular singing talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs at Surat, Gujrat, where he is going to announce the winner of the show. While his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is fighting hard against Warriors at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore playing to stay in hunt for Champions League T20 (CLT20 2011) semi-final berth.
Shahrukh is leaving no stone unturned to promote his most ambitious project – Ra.One. To catch the eyeballs SRK performed live at Lil Champs when his team required him most at Bangalore where the stands were empty as KKR were fighting against Warriors in their match to keep their hopes live for CLT20 semifinals. Shahrukh's motivation and moral support from the team's dug out would have made a sure difference.
I am afraid next time we may see the KKR guys wearing G.One suits from Shahrukh's Ra.One instead of their official purple jerseys. Or Brett Lee bowling a Yorker and showing his Ra.One toys to appeal!! Howz that? Let's wait for the winner of CLT20 league match between KKR & Warriors which is delayed due to rain meanwhile Azmat Hussain is the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs 2011 final!

SRK says symbiotic deal is a number game:
Shah Rukh Khan is on marketing overdrive. He is practically leaving no stone unturned in marketing his production Ra.One. He launched a YouTube channel for the film that will release on October 26. He will also use Google Plus to interact with fans and that should be a big boost for the social networking site.
In an exclusive interview to CNBC-TV18's Anuradha Sengupta, Shah Rukh and Rajan Anandan, managing director and vice president of Google India reveal what the unique association will entail.
While Khan says 'more the number of medium, the better it is for entertainment', Anandan holds that YouTube is the third largest country in the world.
Further, roping Khan for a first-time-ever interaction on Google Plus, Anandan says the Bollywood star will make the brand a household name, which is a much needed push.
Below is an edited transcript of the exclusive discussion on CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video.
Q: What do you expect from the online channel?
Khan: Indian movies are liked by people outside the country and lately more so and on the website, we had about a 170 nations, people of different nationalities coming and wanting to find about Ra.One.
I didn't know that there would be so many nations who would like to know about an Indian film. So, YouTube gives you channel and the platform for people to get access into it.
It is the number one watched video channel on YouTube. So, it is very interesting that you are able to create eyeballs for your film and of course finally the film will speak.
When YouTube actually features movies, and you have a deal with them, it helps you to monetize part of your product revenue in a different way. So, more the number of medium, more the platforms, and the better it is for entertainment.
Q: What is the kind of incentives that a film producer and film industry should see or expect from these kinds of associations?
Anandan: There are two billion users on the internet in the world and five years from now there will be three billion users. So, 40% of the world will be online in 3-4 years. What is incredible about this platform now is for producers, the medium provides an unprecedented level or scale.
The primary incentive, before we even get to YouTube, is this incredible reach that you can get with the internet — 175 nationalities. YouTube reaches a large number of users or as we say 'YouTube is the third largest country in the world!'
Q: Give us the nature of the relationship that you would have? I am guessing that the Ra.One channel that Shah Rukh is launching is sort of emblematic or symbolic of the partnership program that Google has and we believe advertising can stream on that. So does that apply here?
Anandan: What we have done with Shah Rukh and Red Chillies for Ra.One is very special. We haven't done anything like this in India before and the association with Ra.One really encompasses both YouTube as well as Google Plus.
All the promotional videos will be on the YouTube Ra.One channel. We are going to run a very exciting contest that engages users. We have live streamed a whole segment including the Red Carpet and the Premier in London and so on and so forth. And, on Google Plus Shah Rukh will interact with fans.
Q: And, Shah Rukh will actually then make Google Plus a household name and you really need that, isn't it?
Anandan: He is a household name so with Google Plus, we think it's going to be a great platform.
Khan: This is actually very symbiotic. I run businesses and I am a producer, a film maker but finally what an actor wants or an entertainer wants is a lot of people to watch him. The money finally doesn't matter, how many times you are written about does not matter but how many people I have in front of me right now matters to an entertainer. YouTube and Google Plus have 2 billion people, which I wasn't aware of, or I would have started performing more for Google!
Q: Will you be doing ads for Google Plus and the whole Ra.One association? Will Google be doing any advertising around this association?
Anandan: Yes, actually we are doing co-marketing. Both Red Chillies as well as Google will actually market the Ra.One channel on YouTube very aggressively starting later this week. You will start seeing lot of advertising both online as well as offline.
Q: And also, for Ra.One and Google Plus?
Anandan: For the channel, this marketing is specifically around Ra.One for YouTube, Ra.One for Google Plus but it's really centered around Ra.One and the Google properties that we want to associate with Ra.One.
Q: Film marketing has changed since the time you have got into the industry and today, isn't it?
Khan: I changed film marketing.
Q: You have changed film marketing and Ra.One which is perhaps your most ambitious production to date and has a huge and very wide canvas. How do you react to the fact that the internet needs new skills and how much of those resources do you think the film industry has?
Khan: The core of YouTube, a part of it is geared towards entertainment and so is our business. We have a common platform. As far as I am concerned, the screen and television are very innovative and but with Google, I have the choice to be a little more interactive.©2009Indianwebdigger | by TNB
